Job Posting - Upskill NWA - Career Navigator

The Career Navigator assists and supports the participants successful educational development and employment placement through the improvement of their academic skills and job readiness as part of the upskilling program. Working as part of a team, they provide case management, academic support and career guidance to participants throughout the training and placement process.

PURPOSE

The Career Navigator assists and supports the participants successful educational development and employment placement through the improvement of their academic skills and job readiness as part of the upskilling program. Working as part of a team, they provide case management, academic support and career guidance to participants throughout the training and placement process.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide wraparound case management to determine specific needs, assist in accessing resources of social service agencies, coordinate directly with staff of other agencies and monitor participants’ successful access to services to support in meeting their academic and career goals. 
  • Monitor participants’ progress through developing and facilitating weekly support meetings, provide prompt response to participants’ issues, conduct site visits, oversee academic plans, provide evaluations on attendance and grades and provide recommendations on tutoring and additional resources needed to succeed. 
  • Assist students in the enrollment and registration process at the educational institution, Financial Aid application (FAFSA), grants and scholarships. 
  • Complete intake support services, eligibility and interviewing of applicants applying for the upskilling program. 
  • Monitors participants’ compliance with their respective institution’s guidelines and intervenes immediately if there are issues. 
  • Builds relationships with instructors, coordinators and all other appropriate staff to enhance the training experience of the participant and facilitate progress towards graduation. 
  • Builds and maintains participant’s case files and submits all required and/or requested documentation/reports/paperwork by assigned due dates. 
  • Promptly complete participants’ eligibility recertification as required by funders. 
  • Meets performance goals and demonstrates behaviors of the organization’s mission, values and standards of performance. 
  • Coordinates with placement staff when the participant is ready for employment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Services

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years of case management, career coaching, academic advising or related experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, human services, social work or other related field. 
  • Experience in assessing applicants for services. 
  • Experience in facilitating individual and group interventions. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Marshallese preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Some evenings and weekends may be required 
  • This position reports to the Director of Participant and Placement Services.
